Although there are around three - or even more (especially if one includes and permutates the suspected "Garden Tomb" site a hundred yards or so from the present Damascus Gate) - theories as to where the true route of the via Dolorosa really passed, the red line on the plan shows generally what the consensus seems to be. This assumes that Jesus was held, tried and condemned in the Antonia Fortress and that the place of crucifixion was where Queen Helena and most of the Christian world says it was - just outside a gate no longer in existence (the 7th Station of the Cross, in fact).
